1965 Fender Stratocaster BLACK with "A" neck

Fender

$32,000

This 1965 Fender Stratocaster is in its original Black finish and is one of the most interesting Strats that we've ever seen. It was special ordered with an "A" neck in the Black Custom Color finish. It's easy to speculate that Fender must have had "A" necks pre-made and waiting for orders as the neck date is October of 1963 and has Pre-CBS clay dots while the pots date to '65 and the pickups date to October of '65. Two other interesting details of this guitar is that it has never had a shielding plate put on (but has a grounding wire connecting the three pots) and it has two layers of original black paint which was common at that time. At times Fender would even paint another color over the original paint. At first we suspected that the 2nd layer was added after the production of the guitar, but after very close inspection we are confident both layers were done in the Fender factory prior to the completion of the guitar. It shows tons of play wear, but was all worn by the same person as this guitar was owned and played by one person only. The consistent play wear created this authentic look that relics can only attempt to mimic. There are no broken solder joints anywhere on this Strat. It is also structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. It has a great playing neck with worn, but decent frets that have some fret buzz. All electronics work and sound GREAT! The pickups read; neck-6.14, middle-6.01, bridge-5.90. It even has its original bridge cover, tremolo arm, and original hardshell case. The amount of pictures is quite extensive in this listing, but we like to show every detail on such a high end vintage guitar.
